'Dad's Army' TV series 3 to 4 (1969-1970)

Don Estelle obliged with a larger than life signed photograph when I wrote to him in 1997.

Don as you may remember had two short but memorable roles in 'Dad's Army', he played the Pickfords Man who delivers a naval gun to the platoon 'Big Guns' and returned as Gerald the air-raid warden in three further episodes 'Don't Forget The Diver', 'The Test' and 'Uninvited Guests'.

Don's greatest claim to fame was of course his later role of Gunner 'Lofty' Sugden in Jimmy Perry & David Croft's other famous wartime sit-com 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum!', and dueting with co-star Windsor Davies on the popular 1975 hit 'Whispering Grass'.

Sadly, Don died on 1st August 2003
